Setting up BEACN Mic StandUpdated 10 months ago
So you just got your BEACN Mic Stand and you are not sure how to set it up? In this article, we will cover how to setup the BEACN Mic Stand using the desk clamp, and we will also cover using the screw in desk mount.
Desk clamp method
- Open your BEACN Mic Stand Box, and remove the clamp, the arm base, the 3 M5x12 screws, and the 3mm adjustment tool
- Unscrew the clamp all the way by turning it clockwise
- Using the adjustment tool, mount the arm base to the clamp. Note that you want the tension screw on the arm base to be facing the same direction as the back of the clamp
- Take the circular rubber foot out of the box, Peel the white back and place the adhesion side over the screws, being careful to make sure the hole lines up
- Peel the clear cover off of the circular rubber foot
- Slide the clamp onto your desk, making sure that the back of the clamp makes contact to the desk
- Tighten the clamp firmly to the desk by turning the clamp screw until the bottom clamp presses against the desk
- Once the clamp is tightened, take the first piece of the BEACN Mic Stand arm piece and slide it into the desk mount. NOTE: BEACN Mic Stand comes with a riser that you can use to bring the arm up higher, but it is not necessary
With riser:
Without riser: - Take the second BEACN Mic Stand arm piece and slide it into the first BEACN Mic Stand arm piece
- Using the adjustment tool, tighten the screws on the desk mount and the first BEACN Mic Stand arm piece to adjust how freely you want the BEACN Mic Stand to move around
- Take the ball mount out of the BEACN Mic Stand Box
- Loosen the ball mount and slide it on over the BEACN Mic Stand end
- Tighten the ball mount
- Once the ball mount is tight, you are ready to attach your microphone of choice. For this article I am going to use a BEACN Mic but BEACN Mic Stand supports both 3/8" and 5/8" (via included thread adapter)
- Screw the BEACN Mic onto the ball mount, tightening with the bottom collar
- Adjust the direction of your BEACN Mic using the top collar
- If you find the arm starts to sag after mounting the mic, use the adjustment tool to increase the tension on the second BEACN Mic Stand arm piece by turning the screw clockwise
- Plug in your cable to your Microphone
- Push the cable into the cable channel on the bottom of BEACN Mic Stand
- Plug your cable into your computer or interface
Grommet mounting
The BEACN Mic Stand comes with an option to mount the arm directly to the desk. For this mounting option, the desk would need to either have a hole that is between 10-40mm, or you would need to drill a 3/8" hole into your desk.
Modifying the desk clamp for Grommet mounting
- Take a Phillips screwdriver, and poke it through the center hole on the top of the desk clamp
- Remove the screw holding the bottom clamp in place
- Remove the bottom clamp and unscrew the clamp tension screw from the clamp base
- Take the bottom clamp and drop it onto the clamp tension screw
- Attach the Mic Stand Base to the Grommet plate using the 3 M5x12 screws
- Remove the white back off of the circular rubber foot and place the adhesion side over the screws, being careful to make sure the hole lines up
- Remove the clear film off of the rubber foot
- Place the Mic Arm base over the hole in your desk. If it is a 3/8" hole you drilled make sure to line up the hole in the Mic Arm base with the drilled hole. If its a pre existing hole, make sure that the Mic Arm base is center
- Take the clamp tension screw and screw it through the desk hole into the center hole on the Mic Arm base
- Proceed to tighten until the bottom clamp is tight to the desk
Finishing assembly
